StoragePal stores things by the article rather than by the square metre. It began with an observation: city storage is expensive for the people who use it and costly for the city itself. It asks everyone to carry their own things, which many city dwellers and small businesses simply cannot do, and to find a vehicle to move them, which adds traffic and emissions. Then it takes city-centre land for storage buildings, on ground a neighbourhood would rather give to a crèche or a clinic.

None of these are introductory terms. They are how the product is priced, and changing one would mean changing the product.

Five things we decided at the start.

Over 20 years bringing storage and logistics solutions across Europe, the US and Asia. StoragePal is what happens when that experience is pointed at one person with six boxes rather than at a warehouse contract. The model is backed by two of France’s leading sustainability programmes: Paris&Co Ville Durable, the City of Paris’s sustainable-city incubator, and Wilco, the Île-de-France accelerator.

Storage should be a purchase, not a project

No site visit, no tape measure, no contract to decipher. You list what you want stored and see the price.

You should pay for your things, not for air

A unit bills you for the height you cannot reach and the aisle you need to get at the back wall. We bill you for the articles you gave us.

You should know what you own

Every article is labelled, photographed and listed, so your inventory is a fact rather than a memory.

Storage should cost the city less, not more

We build nothing. Articles travel on rounds professional transport partners are already running, which cuts the transport per article by roughly a factor of six, and they are consolidated into storage capacity that already exists, which uses around a tenth of the floor space a unit per household would need.

Keeping a thing beats replacing it

Most things are stored because they still have a life ahead of them — between two flats, two seasons, two generations. Storing one costs a few euros a month. Throwing it out and buying again costs more, and recycling it costs more still, to whoever pays for it. We dispose of something only when you tell us to.

Pricing

€5per article, per month, incl. VAT. Larger articles cost more.

€5 is the base rate, for a box or a suitcase. Larger articles cost more on a fixed scale you see before you book. Nothing is priced after the fact, and nothing renews on its own.

No. We are not an insurer, and your own insurance is required. Every order includes €500 of Guarantee cover, up to €10,000 if you choose it, with a 20% deductible on any approved claim. We do not appraise or value what you store.
You do, throughout. We never take ownership and we never buy what you store. In law this is not a deposit contract: we hold no duty of custody, your goods are stored at your risk, and that is why your own insurance is required. Disposal is governed by our terms and conditions, including where an account has unpaid invoices.
A self-storage unit asks each household to drive its own things across town and asks the city for land to keep them on. We own no vehicles and build nothing: articles ride on rounds transport partners already run, cutting the transport per article by roughly a factor of six, and they share storage capacity that already exists, using about a tenth of the floor space a unit per household would take. The land a storage building would occupy stays available for a crèche, a clinic or housing.
Not usually, and not cheaply. A thing kept is a thing that does not have to be bought again, and recycling is expensive for whoever ends up doing it — which is why so much of it is not recycled at all. Storing a box is €5 a month and keeps the decision open. If you do conclude something can go, tell us and we dispose of it at €150 per cubic metre on your authorisation, rather than sending it back to you.
